Amsterdam: Grand Larceny Suspect was Target for Arrest

On December 13, 2013, The New York State Police in Fonda arrested Matthew Elder from Warrior Way Middleburg, NY for Grand Larceny in the Fourth degree stemming from a larceny complaint at the Target Store in the Town of Amsterdam, Montgomery County.

Elder stole $1100 in electronic equipment which he later sold in the City of Schenectady.

The Amsterdam Police Department located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on the silver Ford Taurus vehicle matching the vehicle description which had been broadcast.

Information from that traffic stop developed Matthew Elder as a suspect.

Matthew Elder was later taken into custody by State Police in Fonda where he confessed to stealing the electronics.  He was arraigned and incarcerated in the Montgomery Co. Jail in lieu of $5000 Cash/ $10,000 Bond.

Elder is due back in the Town of Amsterdam Court on 12/17/13 at 6:00 PM.
